Simply Too Much

Posted on

20 plates
20 bowls
35 coffee cups
20+ glasses of various sizes
10 or so plastic cups of various sizes

5 people in our family

Guess who will be purging her cabinets?

….and creating more space
….and more time
….and less work

So I cleaned we had and weeded out all we didn’t need on a daily basis. We are left with 5 bowls, 5 plates, 5 cups, 3 coffee cups.

I didn’t get rid of the other stuff, but packed it away so it can’t easily be used without making the ridiculous effort to go and get it….which would take longer than just washing a bowl or plate or cup. I also kept it in case we have company or other kiddos that need to eat here during a meal time. Already, I am feeling the benefits of it….even if it just makes me feel less stressed about the anticipation of 50+ dishes to do. I am NOT good about managing a lot of stuff and keeping it clean….. so having more than we need always ends up being a big mess. This will be our trial week to see how it goes, but I’m seriously hoping this sticks!

This method has worked well with our clothes in the past (okay, mostly the boys’ clothes) so it makes sense to me that this would be beneficial too. πŸ˜‰

New FREE Books!

Posted on

Today I got my new books in the mail from!!! And the best part is that they are free. If you are active duty or a dependant, you get 10 free books a year. I’ve already received 8.

-Eat, Pray, Love (super excited to read this!) by Elizabeth Gilbert
-The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
-Teach Your Child To Read (in just 10 minutes a day) by Sidney Ledson
-She’s Gonna Blow by Julie Ann Barnhill (saw her at the last MOPS Convention and she is HILARIOUS!)
-Incredible Edible Science by Liz Plaster and Rick Krustchinsky
-The Budget Kit 5th Edition by Judy Lawrence

and two others I can’t remember that aren’t right in front of me. ;o) I think To Kill A Mockingbird was one. πŸ˜‰

Happy Reading!

Snark anyone?

Some people can stay longer in an hour than others can in a week. -William Dean Howells

She’s so boring you fall asleep halfway through her name. -Alan Bennett

He missed an invaluable opportunity to hold his tongue. -Andrew Lang

He couldn’t ad-lib a fart after a baked bean dinner. -Johnny Carson about Chevy Chase

All this and more from a hilarious new book I bought…..
The Snark Handbook: Insult Edition – Comebacks, Taunts, and Effronteries
I actually bought it for a friend but naturally I perused through it first. πŸ˜‰

Okay, so I got back last night around 9:30 and was so busy today I didn’t think to post anything.

Well, that’s not entirely true. I did think about it, and then thought that my brain couldn’t handle a big post about it right now because it was THAT BUSY/CRAZY/FUN/TIRING of a trip. πŸ˜‰

The highlights:
-got a new purse that is so awesome I am getting rid of all my other purses. That’s huge for me. HUGE.
-got a PERFECT necklace/earring set to match a specific shirt that I don’t haveΒ anything to go with.
-have a new rockin awesome dress to wear with my knee high boots.
-discovered a new wine that I LOVE, thank you Olive Garden. Didn’t finish the bottle I ordered so they let me take it home in this super cool sealed plastic bag so you can drive with it. NICE! Didn’t waste it!
-picked up a $60 bed set for Dylan’s birthday for only $15!!!!! NICE!!!
-had some AMAZING conversations with JaNae and Michelle, very enlighting, challenging, encouraging, and just fun!
-overcame my anixiety about going into one of those walk-in mani/pedi salons and got my feet done BY A STRANGER. It was the most amazing thing ever. I want one once a month now. Not good. πŸ˜†
-got a few gifts for people….just because gifts and birthday gifts. I love buying people stuff. I’ve never wanted to be rich so I could by myself stuff (okay, maybe a little)…. I’ve always wanted to be able to buy things for everyone I love. And not just big things, but little things too that I run across. To me, that is the best thing about spending money…. buying little meaningful things for loved ones.

The Lowlights:
-Aidan did not handle me being away very well. I sat in the mall and cried while Michelle and JaNae were in JCPenney after I hung up with Jake. It breaks my heart that that much change in our routine (I use that word extreeeeemely lightly) can affect him so negatively.
-I realized through great conversations how many deep rooted issues I have with selfishness that affect my mothering and my ability to care for my family. I don’t want any defenses on this either friends….. I know I’m a good mom, I know I try my best, but I’m capable of more and let selfish issues stand in my way. It was just the first time I said these things out loud to anyone else in an authentic way, instead of in a sarcastic joking way. So maybe this is a highlight?? πŸ˜†

That’s about it. There was nothing negative at all about this trip. There were a lot of candid discussions and brutal honesty (seriously brutal honesty LOL) but it all led to a great time with friends, one of which is moving and it breaks my heart. That was the whole point of this trip, for me and JaNae to take Michelle out for one big bang before she moves.

I think we succeeded. A trip not soon to be forgoteen!

Excused Absence

Posted on

If this were school, I would have a note from my mom excusing my absence for the next 2.5 days. πŸ˜‰

The rest of today is shot with babysitting, groceries, and a date with my Favorite.

Tomorrow and Monday will roll into one with an overnight trip to Bismarck, and I don’t know when we’ll be back on Monday. Another friend and I are taking our mutual best friend on a suprise “going away” trip before she moves. Kudos to our husbands for agreeing to try and do what we do on a daily/nightly basis. πŸ˜†

So…. see ya Tuesday!

Seriously! I need to either start posting BEFORE midnight, or start changing the date on my dashboard so it looks like I’m posting everyday instead of two times in one day….technically. πŸ˜†

It may SAY the 19th, but seriously, I’m still on the 18th in my brain. ha!

Today was a CA-RAZY day packed full of awesome women and fun times.

This weekend is going to an awesome weekend packed full of two awesome friends and a surprise overnight roadtrip to Bismarck for a friend who is moving.

I’ll dish on all of it later though b/c I am BEAT!!!!!!

Peace out! (did I mention tonight was an 80’s themed party?? apparently the lingo comes with the dress. πŸ˜† )
