Because Enquiring Minds Want To Know…..

Posted on

I have a few tidbits for you. I’ve tried to write down things in an actual notebook (shocking I know) when I’m not on here so that I can remember to add it to the blog. But wouldn’t you know….that notebook is upstairs in our room and Jake is asleep.Β  πŸ™„ HAHA! Some things I think I can pull from the dark corners of my memory. πŸ˜‰

Aidan has been running around with JUST a diaper or underwear on (whatever he prefers for the day) because he refuses to get dressed. I figure, “why not?” it’s not like we’re going anywhere. Well, he has developed an addiction to this small Elmo backpack (or “pack pack” as he calls it) that he has been wearing constantly. He has even been napping with it on. πŸ˜† Yesterday he was running around in a diaper, the Elmo backpack, and red ear protectors that we got them a long time ago for the car races. If you can imagine that image, add to it a vacuum attachment as his gun. 😯  πŸ˜† Seriously! It was so cute watching him run around. I finally had to take the “gun” away though b/c it’s so long he couldn’t control it well…almost scratched Daddy’s tv. 😯

Tonight Owen was in heaven because I put a rug in the living room where I want the tree to go. Plus these floors are FREEZING in the mornings so having some more cover on them will be nice. Anyway, he saw the rug, ran to it, and started spinning and laughing. So I started spinning too. Peanut decided to join in and was turning in circles between us. Owen was giggling so hard! πŸ˜† Jake came downstairs and was watching us and laughing. When we finally stopped Owen landing face down on the floor! haha! He tried to stand up again and landed on his bum. Over and over again he tried to stand up and couldn’t. It was SO FUNNY watching him. Jake and I just stood there laughing and everytime Owen fell he laughed too. The final straw though was when he almost fell through the glass on my curio cabinet! 😯 Not good.

Last Friday Jake’s squadron had their Thanksgiving lunch. Dylan looked at his plate and said “Mommy, when we have Thanksgiving next week at our house, I want ALL of this same food that’s on my plate okay?” I said “Why? Do you like it?” Then he said “yes. I like it alot.” and kept right on eating. He cleaned his plate! hahaha! It was so funny. He wanted to MAKE SURE we’d have the SAME EXACT food. And I can assure you, we are. πŸ˜‰

Oh oh oh! This is really funny…. a few days ago the boys were watching The Lion King and before the music started Dylan said “where is that song I like?” and I said “which one?” so he started singing it for me. It was SO CUTE how he got the words ALLLLLL wrong. That night at dinner I asked him to sing it for Jake. He got all embarrassed and said he couldn’t remember it. I reminded him how he sang it for me that morning and then he just sat there staring at us with his tongue hanging out of his mouth (what he does when he’s uncomfortable). Then he said “well, the words are in my head.” So I said “sing it for daddy.” Then, of course, he said “oh no! I lost them. They went out of my head.” 😯 Ummm, okay. πŸ˜† Out of nowhere he HITS his head and starts looking around frantically and said in a panicked voice “what?! where’d it go? where’d it go? Come back here! You get back here! Get back in my head!” and Jake and I bust out laughing SO HARD!! Dylan got out of his chair and looked behind his chair and under it and then shrugged and said “well, the words are gone.” πŸ˜† HAHAHAHA!! I thought I was going to pee my pants I was laughing so hard!

This is rich….. I got a call on Saturday morning from the church we “go to” (i say that lightly b/c we haven’t been in a month….b/c I didn’t have a license and couldn’t go while Jake was gone…anyway) because they had signed me up to work in the nursery. Well, a month ago I was supposed to meet with a deacon for an “interview” before they officially let me work. Well, I sat around before and after service that day and NO ONE showed up. I went home and never thought about it again. Until Saturday morning when this lady called to see if I was working the next day. I told her no b/c no one ever called me about a meeting yada yada yada and that we couldn’t go anyway b/c we were all sick. She said “so you’ve not had a meeting” and I said “no” and explained the whole story again. Then she said something that left such a bad taste in my mouth….she said “well yeah, you need to have that meeting so we can just prove you are a Christian.” WHA?!?! 😯 ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I didn’t realize when I became a Christian that I also got a pin number and ID. Give me a freaking break people. I’m pretty sure you can’t PROVE whether or not I am a Christian and even moreso than that, I’m sure it’s ultimately up to God whether or not to judge whether I have made that decision. How on earth do you PROVE that someone is in fact a Christian? So, needless to say, it has me rethinking our choice of a church. 😦

**Hopping down off my soapbox**

So for Thanksgiving Jake invited three people over. It went from one to three, then down to two, now back up to three. Goodness. I’m making 5 pies….. but not 5 different pies. 2 pumpkin (b/c the can makes two) 2 sweet potato (again, b/c the can makes two) and 1 custard (b/c only Jake likes custard) πŸ˜† Yeah, a lot of pie. I’m going to have to mark the sweet potato and pumpkin pies because I don’t want a reply of Owen’s sweet potato allergy. 😯 What a Thanksgiving that would be. (sweet potato is a link and allergy is a seperate link)

Not much going on around here. Just trying to get to a place where I’m not feeling so much like crap so I can get stuff done for Thursday. Today was the first day I have somewhat normal since last Thursday. I actually showered and got dressed today! πŸ˜‰ Tomorrow will be my do or die day full of baking and cleaning. Going to get as much done tomorrow as I can. We are doing Thanksgiving here around 5 on Thursday. Lord willing! πŸ˜‰

Guess Who?

I’m baaaaack. πŸ˜‰

So I have been loving my break and getting a ton done. There is NO WAY I could have gotten this much done if I hadn’t shut down the computer. But to be honest, I didn’t shut it down completely. I did check my email every few days just to stay on top of it, and I had to of course pay our bills and check our account. Of course. πŸ˜‰

I can’t believe that Thanksgiving isΒ a week away! πŸ˜€ And the day after that is Christmas Decorating Day! I finally have the house in order for putting up the tree and all of the decorations. It had been driving me crazy, but I seriously had to completely rearrange a few rooms to make room in our living room for the tree. Let me explain. Our breakfast area in the kitchen had been converted into a “mini living room” of sorts for the boys. They had a tv in there, their table in there, a shelf with their artsy fartsy stuff, throw pillows, toys, etc. They loved it and it worked out great. Our table that we eat at was in the part of the living room that is “supposed” to be the dining room area. I was liking it in there, but the tree would NOT fit anywhere in there with the table too. The playroom needs to be cleaned out because my mom and granny got them a bounce house for down there and it is 8ft x 8ft so I needed space for that. In order to get all of the toys out of there I had to clean out a HUGE storage room (where the xmas decorations were and some other junk) and I turned that into a toy/play closet. They love it. It’s like a little fort. One wall has floor to ceiling shelves with all of the toys in baskets. The other side of the “closet” has their kitchen and a shelf with books and their throw pillows. So now that the toys are out of the huge play room to make room for the bounce house, I have the other half of the play room for their table that was in the breakfast area of the kitchen. So, I moved THAT down THERE, and moved our table from the dining room to the breakfast area, all to make room for the tree. 😯 And the tv they had? I put that in our room which meant I had to rearrange our entire bedroom since our bed covered up the cable outlet. DANG! That was a lot of cleaning/organizing/rearranging. Not to mention all of the laundry I’ve been doing. I despise laundry and will wait until we’re running around half naked before I’ll do it. So, I have a lot to do. I’m about half done. BUT, in my defense, I decided to wash every blanket, sheet, towel, and table cloth we have as well. Don’t ask me why. πŸ™„ So, I’ve been busy. πŸ˜‰

Last week we had a MOPS meeting and I signed up for some stuff that now I’m wondering if I will do. Not that I don’t want to, I just get nervous when I sign up for stuff so far in advance. One thing is a cookie drive. We’re all getting together at the base church and baking cookies for several hours while the kids play. The entire base is doing a cookie drive for the airmen who can’t go home. I guess sugar cookies will bring them cheer while they sit in their tiny dorm room and eat microwave turkey dinners? I mean, I think it’s nice and all, but it just seems depressing knowing lonely airmen will be eating sugar cookies made by moms who will be at home with their families. *sigh* Anyway…..

Friday night we went to town and did some Christmas shopping. I have to say, I love KMART. Shopping at WalMart all the time, you forget what a “40% off” sign looks like! πŸ˜† We got them some good stuff there and Jake and I got a few things. He needed new gloves and I needed a hat. All on sale of course! πŸ˜‰ Oh! I also got the boys some ninja costumes from their Halloween stuff that was 90% OFF!!! 😯 That’s part of their Christmas loot. I also got them each a race car costume from WalMart the week before. They love to pretend and play dress up and cheap halloween costumes are perfect for that! πŸ˜€ We also got them swords and pirate hats. They are going to LOVE THEM! Friday night we also tried out a pizza place we hadn’t been to yet. Planet Pizza. It’s like Minots version of Chucky Cheese I guess? Anyway, we didn’t know there were going to be games and stuff so we weren’t prepared with dollar bills to get the tokens, and there was no ATM. Go figure. Kids were running around like CRAZY screaming and chasing each other. It was NUTS. And this place was DIRTY. ick. I was not impressed with how NOT clean it was. HOWEVER, the pizza was AWESOME!!! Oh my gosh it was the best pizza we’ve had here! I loved it. We’ll go back just for the pizza, and take some hand sanitizer as back up. πŸ˜†

Saturday and Sunday basically consisted of a LOT of laundry for me, and the boys spent a lot of time with Jake those days. πŸ˜‰

So really, nothing too exciting has been going on here, I just decided to get off my arse and do some stuff. It was a great eye opener for me. Here’s the thing, I tend to be a VERY black and white person. I get tunnel vision when I’m doing something. I focus so much on what it is I am doing at the moment, and I either do it until it’s done, or until I’m exhausted. And with the internet and blogging, it’s NEVER DONE, so I usually am doing it until I’m exhausted which leaves nothing left for me to do anything else. The things I’m supposed to be doing. Like laundry. And cleaning. And cooking. πŸ˜‰ And y’all are addicting and I’ve grown to REALLY love my blogging community. ♥ However, I think I’m going to be reigning it in a bit. I’m not going to post everyday anymore. I’m not going to Twitter everyday anymore either. I think I’ll knock it back to about 2 days a week and have insanely large catch up posts. πŸ˜‰

I have really liked my break. I even contemplating NOT posting today and going until after Thanksgiving, but dang I missed you guys! πŸ˜‰Β  πŸ˜† I have a lot of funny stuff from the boys too, but this is already really long so I’ll save it for next time. See you then!

In Honor Of….

Posted on

…..well, in honor of nothing really, I just felt like saying that. Actually, I was going to say in honor of Jake being home, but he’s been home for several days now. Then I was going to say in honor of the Christmas season, but it’s not the Christmas season yet. So, in honor of…. sanity? That works. *ahem*

In Honor Of Sanity, I am going to be taking a WEEK off from blogging, emailing, twittering, lurking, commenting, and all other things internet. But before I do, how about I post today? I have some things to get out of the way. πŸ˜‰

Yesterday Jake and the boys were outside for HOURS playing in the snow. We bought them a sled and Jake piled up a ton of snow and made them a little hill to go down. It was HILARIOUS watching them. πŸ˜€ At one point Jake said they went flying out into the street! 😯 Glad I didn’t see that. πŸ˜‰ The snow is still EVERYWHERE, although yesterday and today it is in the 30’s so I’m pretty sure it won’t be around much longer. It’s slowly melting. SLOWLY. Driveways are finally free of ice, and the sheet of ice that was covering the roads turned to icy slush yesterday, of course only to refreeze again last night in some parts. So now it’s only partly icy. πŸ˜‰Β  πŸ˜†Β

I got myself a new jacket with birthday money from Mom and Granny. Thank you! πŸ˜‰Β  ♥Β  The two jackets I have were not warm enough for the 8* high here the other day. πŸ˜† Now I’m pretty in a pink jacket and toasty warm. For now. We’ll talk again when it’s -30* outside. ha! However, I don’t foresee myself actually GOING outside at that point.Β  😯

We got some more Christmas shopping done the other night as well. I got them each fleecey blankets in their own color, pirate hats from the 75% off Halloween section for the older two boys, and some other dress up stuff from the Halloween costumes on sale. πŸ˜‰ They are going to LOVE them!

Jake has put up a TON of Christmas lights outside already. It is funny b/c he wanted to hurry and get them done before it got any colder out, but the day he did it, the temp didn’t even reach 20* and now it’s in the 30’s outside. HAHAHA!! πŸ˜† I told him to wait another week. πŸ˜‰ He SO MUCH loves to put up Christmas lights. The other night he was out there until after midnight putting lights around the windows and front entry. Of course we aren’t turning them on just yet, but it’s good to have them done. You know, before it gets any colder.Β  heeheeΒ  πŸ˜‰Β Β  πŸ˜†Β

I fell down the stairs yesterday.Β  Not the big stairs, just the little stairs, but even still, five hardwood steps hurt a lot whenΒ you land on your elbow, then your hip, then the base of your head cracking against the step right before you SOMEHOW land on your belly. I have no idea how I ended up on my stomach, but I did. Stupid fuzzy socks on the slick hardwood steps! πŸ˜• I’m pretty sure I screamed a profanity. All day my head hurt REALLY bad and my elbow was just awful. I couldn’t pick up Owen or grip anything with my left hand. I took some Ibuprofen last night before bed and I feel a little better this morning. My back and elbow don’t hurt as bad. That’s good. πŸ˜‰ I’ve never fallen down stairs before, and I never want to again! So much for my fuzzy socks. 😦

Aidan is wearing VERY CUTE undies today that have “Tow Mater” on the back. Grandma Val sent them for his birthday. SO CUTE!! I love seeing him in underwear b/c that means NO DIAPER! At least not for pee. Now if I could only get him to understand that we don’t poop on the floor that would be great. πŸ˜•Β Β  πŸ˜†

Since I’m not going to be on for SEVEN DAYS (I’m serious people!) I want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Miss Tammy Hodge! I do believe she’ll be 25. *wink*wink* πŸ˜† Tam, sorry I couldn’t make it to your blog ON your birthday, but you understand an internet break right? Right? Oh wait, nevermind. πŸ˜‰Β  πŸ˜†Β  ♥Β  πŸ˜•Β  😯  All of those were just for you my dear.

Also, I heard from my Mom (the aforementioned Grandma Val) that my Aunt Carolyn really DOES read my blog. πŸ˜‰ So, Hi Aunt Carolyn! We miss you! ♥ heehee

Owen is sort of talking. Okay, not really, but a mom can hope right? Or not hope, depends on the day. πŸ˜† He says the first part of words. Ball=ba. Paci=pa. Cat=ca. Dog=da. Puppy=pu. Peanut=pe. You get the idea. It’s really kind of funny and cute. πŸ˜€

What do I intend on doing while taking my break? I intend on getting this place ready for the Thanksgiving AND Christmas season. πŸ˜‰ Seriously. If we are going to have peeps over for Thanksgiving (still need to clarify with Jake on that one) then I need to clean up my act around here. And if I ever intend on decorating for Christmas, clearing some clutter would be good. πŸ˜‰ I’ve also been very out of focus lately, and very scatterbrained. What’s new you say? Shame on you! But really, I have been. More than normal. So I need to focus. FOCUS! FOCUS! FOCUS! And let’s be real here….if you know me at all, you know I’m addicted to this thing call blogging. And that thing called twittering. And email. And basically all things internet related.

A smart cookie told me today there are LOTS of things we could fast from. πŸ˜‰ And she was right. Little did she know I was working on this post when she said that. Coincidence? I think not.

So, I’ll see you all in a week. Be good now ya hear? πŸ˜‰

Ever feel like NOT reading all the blogs in your feed reader? I have an urge to click “all read” but then I feel guilty. Because I love reading them, but I’ve let them go for several days and now I have TONS to go through. And forget about commenting. πŸ™„ If ya know how I comment, I’d be commenting ALL NIGHT. πŸ˜•

Jake was gone for nearly three weeks. Pretty much every night he was gone I went to bed close to 2am. Now that he’s been home for 2 nights, I feel the sleep urge coming on about 10ish. By 11 I’m completely drained and fighting off sleep. What the heck?!

I did end up going to the airport for Jake yesterday. The roads cleared up, praise the Lord! I did hit some ice about a mile outside of town, but I seriously kept it at a crawl. I was freaking out. Luckily Jake drove the rest of the night. We were THRILLED to see eachother and I smiled all through dinner. πŸ˜€ ♥ It was nice to be out without the boys. Jakes dinner was free too since it was his birthday. Sweet! Afterwards we went to Walmart to get Aidan a bday present, then we went to Starbucks to see the scene of the crime. πŸ˜† I ended up telling him about the “fender bender” over the phone before he came home. Luckily he missed me like crazy so he just laughed a delirious laugh. πŸ˜‰Β He couldn’t even FIND the dent yesterday. I had to point it out to him. πŸ˜‰

The boys are so happy to have daddy home. I said to them “are you guys SO EXCITED that daddy is home?” and Dylan replied with “yeah, and he brought us RACE CARS!!” b/c you know, THAT is the most important thing. πŸ˜†

Jake put up our Christmas lights today. He was nervous it would get too cold by the first of December so he wanted to do it before them. However, I’m sure 15* wasn’t exactly toasty for him out there.

The boys have been having fun playing in the snow. The post before this one was pics of them after they’d been out in it awhile. They came in to warm up. Poor guys had FROZEN cheeks. I’m thinking that if they want to keep playing out there that long they are going to have to wear their face mask hats. πŸ˜• Seriously, this is cold like we’ve never known!! Not even in Missouri! 😯

Tomorrow I attempt to get my ND drivers license AGAIN. Jake is driving so there won’t be any mishaps this time. πŸ˜‰ HA! I’m going to see if I can get my friend to keep the boys while we do that. Faster that way and maybe we can squeeze in another meal together sans kids. πŸ˜‰

Jake has tomorrow and Tuesday off so the plans for the next two days are just going to be hanging out and hopefully getting things back in order around here. Now that Jake is back he can occupy the boys for me. yeah! πŸ˜‰

That’s about all the random I can think of right now. Kinda boring huh? πŸ˜‰
