Mall Rats

Posted on

Today was a fairly busy day I think, considering we are still learning the ropes around here. The boys and I got up earlier than Jake, even though I opened up the blinds in his room and he still managed to sleep another 2 hours almost. 😯

We got ready and left for the mall a little after noon. There is a whole section of Minot we did not discover last night!! Jake said “here I thought we were moving to a podunk town and it’s really not that small.” We walked around the mall a little bit and then had lunch in the food court.Β  The boys did really well considering we didn’t take a stroller. We still have the back of the truck loaded up so there was no room. I just put Owen in my wrap and the boys walked. They both wore their new sunglasses, even while in the mall! πŸ˜† haha! Dylan would put his on crooked so he could “still see” without the glasses over his eyes. haha!! πŸ˜† The kid cracks me up.

After we ate we went into Target (it’s part of the mall) and got the boys some new shoes. Matching of course. πŸ˜‰ By that time we were spent and hot and irritated and the boys were getting a little ornery…they wanted to run. We left and drove back to base. Okay, I still think it’s quite a long drive, even though it’s only about 10 miles or so. πŸ˜† What I thought was neat today in town though is I saw the grocery store that my friend Lanita used to work at when she lived here about 7 years ago. It’s funny seeing places I have heard about from her. πŸ˜€

When we got back to base we went to the BX b/c Jake wanted to look at shoes….for some reason he needs a new pair. πŸ˜• Owen was melting down b/c he was hungry so we left and went to the park again. I sat in the truck and fed him and then joined Jake and the boys. That park is so much fun!! So much space to run and play and very safe. Not by any traffic at all, no water, nothing. I like it. Plus there is just so much for them to play on. And there was no wind today! SWEET! πŸ˜€ We were talking about bbq’ing burgers tonight and decided to run to the commissary on our way home to get the fixins for all of that. I love bbq’d burgers. πŸ˜› Yum! Thick sliced tomatoes, onions, lettuce….yummy! I have decided to do mine minus the bun. I told Jake that today is day one of new eating habits for me. This morning I put on a pair of jeans that are normally big on me, I could pull them down without unbuttoning them, and they are TIGHT. SO TIGHT. I was not feeling very good about that this morning. 😦 Plus, I have gained weight so I need to get back on track ASAP! 😯 Today we found the fitness center and Jake is going to go check it out this week and see if they have childcare of some kind so I can go with the kids. If not, I’ll have to figure something else out I guess. πŸ˜• Tomorrow I hope to find the library….haven’t seen that yet.

Jake is just now done with our burgers so that’s about a wrap of our day. πŸ˜€ I am so excited for tomorrow! We find out if they have a house for us or not. I really hope so b/c I am just chomping at the bit to get settled!!!!

  1. Holy Cow! that’s a busy day girl!!! I’m exhausted for you!!!

So did YOU get anything for yourself today???

So i started “exercising”. I go for walks…nice swift ones. And then when i find a moment, a long moment, during the day I’ll do some toning exercises. I’m trying to do at least something. even if it’s small, it’s a start. So…. if ya want we can email each other when we’ve “worked out” that way we can hold each other accountable and encourage one another.

    or not

    I love you!!!!

  2. That sounds great! πŸ˜€ I was laughing reading that thinking “oh great, NOW she wants to work out “together” when I’m gone” hahahaha!!! πŸ˜† So funny!

I was thinking the same thing, taking fast walks to get started. Jake will be getting home earlier now that he is back into his old job so I was thinking that while the weather is nice we could go to the park when he got home and he and the boys could play while I walk the track with Owen. It’s a start. I hope it works out. πŸ˜‰

For sure though, lets email our workouts. πŸ˜‰ My biggest shortfall though is FOOD. 😯 😦
Maybe I’ll email you what I’ve eaten each day! hahaha!! πŸ˜†

  4. I do sort of that Tam does. (well before the rain came back again/again.) I walk with K in the stroller in the a.m. (brisk/fast, sweating walk) and then I do my weights for arms/back, and my sit ups while K is napping.
    It’s better than nuttin.

It sounds like you guys are settling in. WOULD LOVE TO SEE SOME PICTURES. HELLLLLLLLLOOOO.

kindly STOP buying your kids matching stuff. ha ha ha!!!

  5. You Girls are making me feel guilty! πŸ™‚

Guess i’d better start exercisng again or stop reading…(Hmmmm – Tough Choice!)

We Eat for TWO reasons Bran – one is to cure hunger pangs (that are there to encourage us to fuel our bodies correctly!) while the other is for PLEASURE!

Eating a lot of protein helps stop hunger (which is the logical reason why the Atkins diet ‘works’) whereas carbs don’t satisfy that hunger anywhere near as well.

What we can do about satisfying our Pleasure aspect of the desire to eat is a far trickier problem to solve.

Learn to love carrots over cake and chocolate perhaps?? πŸ˜‰

i know – easier said than done! πŸ™‚

Hang in there – we’re all with you – wherever you live now πŸ™‚
