Aaaaaaaaaaand, I’m back.
June 10, 2008
Yeah, so, if you noticed, I was kind of avoiding my blog a bit. I REALLY didn’t feel like posting so I didn’t. I did feel like commenting elsewhere, so I did. It was nice. I think I might “break” more often. Even though I wasn’t posting HERE, I was posting in my head. A lot. And it was annoying. I couldn’t turn it off. Dang blogging addiction!!
So I never OFFICIALLY announced the whole new puppy thing. Peanut. The boys named him Peanut. I am less than thrilled with his name, but…it’s stuck. I tried to change it a few nights ago and felt guilty about it. I know… he doesn’t even know his name yet, but still I felt guilty. So, Peanut he is. This morning though a nickname of sorts just popped out of my mouth for him…. The Nut. I told the kids “I need to let The Nut out of his house first” and there it was. The Nut. Or… just Nut. We’ll see how this goes. I don’t like Peanut b/c when I’m in the yard “training” him, and he runs too far, I yell “PEA-NUT!” and it sounds really funny. Try it. Say “Peanut” really sternly. It comes out funny. Doesn’t roll off the tongue. Eh, the kids love his name so that’s all that matters anyway, right?
UPDATE: Jake is NOT going to 7 Level School now. I’m not positive on all the details of why he’s not going, I just know he’s not. So that is a relief for me. Although, getting it done and over with would have been nice too…. but this is okay. I wasn’t ready to do two weeks alone here just yet. I’m a wimp. I know.
I would never make it alone on a deployment. *KNOCK ON WOOD* That’s just sad.
Jake’s parents are coming in August! Yeah! So that makes our summer half way awesome…. the other half would be if the other grandparents could make it too….then it would be a summer complete with grandparents! We are excited to have them come and see the new digs.
Jake is even going to take leave when they come so we can get a camping trip in there too. Oh, my friend Toni is *thinking* about coming up as well. She says we are “penciled in” for July.
heehee I hope I don’t get erased!
This morning we were playing games (O was still asleep) and one was Memory. I got it from Oriental Trading Company, it’s wooden squares that you put face down and have to flip them over two at a time to match them up. It comes in this cute carrying bag too that ties so it stays all put together. ANYWAY, I was getting really frustrated b/c Aidan was NOT getting the concept of the game at all. I mean, REALLY frustrated. I don’t have patience for that sort of thing. Dylan totally got it and was doing really good. But Aidan, driving me nuts. So, I said “we’re DONE” and tried to put it away when it dawned on me (read: God tapped me on the shoulder), I was being unreasonable, not Aidan. So, we flipped them all over and just decided to match up all the animals that way. It was still a “matching game” that way and I also had them tell me which animal it was and what sound it made. So, it turned out good. I was glad I got a tap on the shoulder.
When we were putting the pieces away I had them make the animal sounds and Aidan had the pig, so I asked him what sound a pig made and he plugged his nose and snorted! HAHA!! I BURST out laughing b/c it was SO FUNNY. It was just a funny moment. I loved it. Dylan makes this pig sound that sounds NOTHING like a pig and it’s my favorite…..b/c it’s so NOT a pig sound….but it’s the sound he made for a pig when he was a baby. heehee Aidan always tries to make a pig sound but never can figure it out….so he just plugged his nose! HAHA!! Ahhh, guess you had to be there.
I was telling the boys about Peanuts appt with the Vet for this afternoon and how he has to get shots so he doesn’t get sick….kind of like the shots they got when they were babies. Dylan gets this ANNOYED look on his face and says “But I’m sick RIGHT NOW” and he said it so “matter-of-factly” and the look on his face was hilarious. HAHA!! Little stinker.
Last night putting Aidan to bed he whispered to me “I want to kiss you on the cheek” and he gave me the sweetest little peck on the cheek. I loved it.
He’s also into “Butterfly Kisses” right now. heehee Too cute.
The other day I was explaining to them about Tornadoes and what to do if we hear the sirens and what not. They were a little confused about what it was so I showed them some video on YouTube. I was worried it would scare them, but it didn’t. Dylan was very intrigued by them and Aidan didn’t like it at first but then he kept asking to watch them. HA!! I didn’t want to watch anymore (b/c I’m the fraidy cat) so I said “Let’s watch something else” and I remembered that my sister in law showed Kambrie rollercoasters on YouTube so I found some of those for them to watch. They were SO FUNNY watching them. Aidan was saying “Dat not nice, dats mean” b/c people were screaming. HAHA!!! He warmed up to it finally. Now they keep asking but I’ve cut them off.
The weather this week has been AWFUL!!!!! Rainy, cloudy, cold, windy….. not very good “outside” weather. I don’t mind it, b/c I like being inside, but the boys are restless and climbing the walls. Yesterday was an AWFUL day with them. I was at my wits end. Jake came home and I wanted to pull my hair out by that point!
I said “I’m DONE” when he came in only to have him say he was going to the gym. UGH! Later that night though I took about an hour for myself and took a long bath and then a shower and used my new Arbonne Detox stuff. I smelled good when I was done.
Jake and all three boys and Peanut were outside making a fire in the fit pit. Jake was drying out some wood we bought this weekend…it was a little damp from the rain.
Something new we are going to start doing…… going to the gym everyday when Jake gets home. They have a family room there with all cardio machines and a play area for the kids. We will take turns doing weights and cardio so someone is always with the kids. The bummer about the family room is you have to watch your own kids. It’s not like a childcare set up….. you have to watch them while you work out and the only thing they offer in that room is cardio. Sooo, while one of us is doing cardio the other will be doing weights or whatever else in the other part of the gym, and then after about 30 minutes, we’ll switch again. I like this plan. I’m excited to get it going…..tomorrow. Today we have to go the vet when Jake gets home.
Okay, that’s all i have time for now…… tummies are growling and kids are begging for food!
What I’ve Been Listening To….
June 9, 2008
Been listening to a lot of Natasha Bedingfield lately. This is one of my favorites…. actually it’s a vid of the first time I heard her singing. I can’t help but MOVE when I play this CD and it just puts a smile on my face. So, I listen to it a lot….since the weather for Minot in June looks more like an Oregon November or December.

OOOOBER CUTE!
June 1, 2008
I wish I had pictures of the last couple of days with the boys. They have been so super cute! Granted they’ve had stink pot moments, but overall, very funny and cute lately.
The other night at dinner Dylan was asking me and Jake a LOT of questions about being/getting married. One of our wedding pictures on the wall spurred his questions. heehee He said “HEY! THat’s a picture of you getting married! Why are you not STILL getting married?” HAHA!! So we had to explain to him how you get married and that we ARE still married and how, if you do it right, you only get married once. Then he wanted to know how you go about getting married and who you marry. So, we told him that when he grows up he’d find a nice girl that he liked enough to want to marry.
The look on his face was hysterical!! HAHA!! Then he wanted to know where they would live, where we would live, why he wouldn’t live with us anymore, yada yada yada. It was all so very cute and made ME feel weird. His questions were such “big kid” questions. And he was REALLY interested in this. He wanted to know who this girl was that we talked about him meeting. HA!!! It was so incredibly cute. We told him he got to pick the girl when he was all grown up, that it would be a girl he really liked a lot and wanted to be married to for the rest of his life. He started thinking really hard and then said “I want it to be Kenna!” and then he got SO EMBARRASSED!! He covered his extremely red face and started giggling uncontrollably! HAHAHAHA!! McKenna is my niece! heehee It was so funny! We explained to him that that was impossible since she was his cousin. Oh yeah, I forgot the most important parts….duh! We explained to him how God created SOME of us with the desire to get married and that it made God happy when we could find someone to spend our lives with. He was very intrigued about that.
Last night Dylan was asking me a lot of questions about God. UGH. I have no clue how to explain this to him so that he gets it. Sometimes I barely know how to explain it to an adult, let alone a 4 year old. I was praying with him before bed and I was trying to encourage him to pray too. I told him could pray for my foot b/c it was hurting…really it was. Then he didn’t want to and told ME to pray for my own foot. Goodness! So, I told him how it’s nice to pray for other people and God wants us to pray for others, not just ourselves, and God likes us to talk him about things that are bothering us. I went over a lot about praying and why we pray to God….mostly b/c with every answer I gave him he kept saying “But why?” HA!! Then he wanted to know why we couldn’t see God.
Then it was “well WHERE is he then?” even after I explained that. Then it was “why can’t we hear him?” and “why doesn’t he talk to us?” and impossible questions like that. Impossible to explain to a 4 year old. This kid does NOT fall for the usual stuff either….the stuff I could get away with when he was younger….he wants to know DETAILS and if it doesn’t sound right to him he wants me to EXPLAIN it in more detail. The little wheels in his head were turning last night!! And my heart was racing b/c I wanted to make sure I said the right thing but I also didn’t know what the right thing was. *sigh* Oh! I did tell him that God talks to us through the Bible and that that is like a big letter he left for us to read whenever we want. And he said “What’s the bible?” even though he has seen mine a hundred times. I told him what it was and he wanted to know what it said, so I told him that the scriptures he has memorized are part of God’s letters in the Bible. “ooooooh!” was his reaction.
haha!! The first scripture he ever memorized is: Remember to obey so that all may go well with you. Dueteronomy 6:Free. HAHA!!
I love it. He totally remembers it and sounds so cute.

Aidan has been my little jitterbug lately. He dances ALL THE TIME!! It’s so cute! And really, that kid can keep a beat! I am always surprised at how he really is right on beat with the music….and he’s two!
The bummer is though that when he sees that you’ve noticed him he totally gets all embarrassed and stops and covers his face.
I mostly only get to see him out of the corner of my eye. But still, it’s so cute.
Or like right now, he can’t see me and I’m watching him dancing to music. AH! I love it!! Makes me smile so much. heehee
♥
Last night I found Aidan sitting on the kitchen floor with Peanut (the new puppy) curled up in his lap! It was so sweet. Aidan is so funny b/c that kid can be SUCH a little terror sometimes, but he also has one of the softest sides I’ve ever seen in a kid. Warms my heart so much when I see him being loving like I know he can be. He’s been super sweet at bedtime lately too. I’ll lay there with him and talk to him a while and he whispers so softly and kisses my cheek. AH! It’s the best!
Oh, a funny about Aidan….or strange…. he ate FOUR SLICES OF PIZZA last night at dinner!!! FOUR SLICES!!! That is a LOT for this kid!! I mean, he’s always been my eater, but usually he’ll eat what I put in front of him and call it good. But last night he kept wanting more to eat. Good grief! Then he drank two cups of milk and a few minutes later he had THREE CUPS of water!!!
OH MY WORD!! It was so funny! His belly was huge!

Owen has been learning and growing by leaps and bounds!! He loves to cruise the furniture and laughs hysterically when he starts going fast. He hasn’t braved walking alone yet, but it’s just a matter of time. I’ve noticed him letting go a lot and just trying to stand there, but no venturing out yet.
He and Peanut have TOTALLY bonded already. This puppy has proven to be a great babysitter! HAHA!! Seriously though, Owen and Peanut totally crawl around all over together, Peanut LOVES Owen and rarely leaves his side, and Owen just giggles NON STOP when he’s petting Peanut. I use petting lightly.
HA!! Oh my goodness, yesterday I found Owen IN Peanuts dog bed.
It was so funny. He was laying in it with him!
At one point he pushed Peanut out and claimed the bed as his own and just giggled hysterically as Peanut tried to get back in. Little Stinker!!
Owen is also sleeping through the night now!! Thank you Lord!! That is such a huge blessing to me and I am totally feeling the benefits of it. I’m still not getting a ton of hours of sleep (which is my own fault) but at least I am getting consecutive hours of sleep. Before, I was getting an hour at a time throughout the night and that was awful! I am loving not waking up until it’s light outside! heehee
*****
Well I think that’s about it right now on a kiddo update.
There’s more but really I could go on forever and I’m already over 1300 words here and that’s A LOT!!
But hey, what am I going to do? I’ve got three boys to brag about.
technical difficulties….

bear with me. Sawreee.
*Okay, done. Whew. I was trying to find a layout that worked for my Mother In Law also. For some reason she couldn’t see the picture of the boys on the other one. And then of course I found one that she could see them on but none of my widgets on the sidebar were working. FRUSTRATING. But alas, all is right in my blogworld again.
heehee
*as you were*
